Donate to Conservancy!

As a not-for-profit charity, Conservancy relies on support from the public to continue its work. Please give generously to support Conservancy’s work.

Right now, we welcome those who want to support our work on software right to repair for 3D printer users — particularly those who have Bambu Lab devices. We're trying to raise $250,007 in just two months to dedicate staff to continued work to liberate AGPLv3-violating 3D printers1.

Become a Sustainer Now!

The best way to donate to Conservancy is via our official Sustainer program, which earns a t-shirt and other surprise Sustainer-only perks throughout the year.

But, there are many other great ways to donate to Conservancy as well, listed below:

Donate via PayPal (including Visa, Mastercard, AMEX or ACH)

You can use this method to donate any amount. You can donate once or set up a recurring monthly donation.

Donate by paper check

Send paper check donations, drawn in US Dollars, to:

Software Freedom Conservancy
137 MONTAGUE ST STE 380
Brooklyn, NY 11201-3548
USA

Donate by wire transfer or bank transfer

Donations are accepted by wire transfer. Please write to <donate@sfconservancy.org> to let us know what country you’re donating from and what currency you’re sending, and we’ll send back the instructions you need.

Conservancy has accounts to receieve US Dollars and Euros. We’ll convert other currencies to US Dollars.

This method is called a “wire transfer” in the United States, but it’s usually compatible with most online banking forms that people use in Europe and elsewhere to send funds. Please just contact us if you need to donate in native currency from your country and we’ll discuss it.

Employer Matching!

If you work for a company based in the USA, your company may have a donation matching program for 501(c)(3) charities. Please contact your HR, Personnel, or charitable giving department and ask! If you need assistance in talking with your company about this, please don't hesitate to ask us!

Donate a portion of your eBay sales

Through the eBay/PayPal Giving Fund program, you can donate a portion of your eBay sale proceeds to Software Freedom Conservancy. You can also donate directly through the PayPal Giving Fund.

Donate stock

Conservancy can accept donation of stocks. Please contact <donate@sfconservancy.org> for details.

Donate to our projects

Finally, Conservancy also maintains directed donation programs for its member projects. Using the PayPal Donate button on that page is the easiest way to donate to a specific project. You can also designate a donation for a project in the memo line of a check or wire transfer.

Donations are usually tax-deductible!

Software Freedom Conservancy, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in New York, and donations made to it are fully tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Temporary Restriction Details — mid-May–mid — July 2026

1 From 2026-05-18 through 2026-07-14 (“Fundraising Period”), any PayPal donations designated to “Software Freedom Conservancy” and any newly initiated donations given as part of SFC's Sustainer program will be earmarked as follows:

If the fundraising target of US$250,007 (“Fundraising Target”) is met, donations received during the Fundraising Period as a temporarily restricted asset for only the purposes of (a) compensation for new staff, contractors, outside legal counsel and/or consultants (“Workers”) to specifically work on software right to repair issues related to 3D printers, (b) funding time of existing Workers for the same. If the Fundraising Target is not reached by 2026-07-14, SFC will use donations under this temporary restriction as funding for any Workers working on any initiative related to our work on the software right to repair (including but not necessarily limited to 3D printers, violations by Bambu Lab, and SFC's Vizio lawsuit). This temporarily restricted asset shall be designated as “Software Right to Repair” on SFC's financial statements.

During the Fundraising Period, Donors using means other than PayPal or SFC's Sustainer program may optionally designate donations under this restriction. To do so, donors must clearly communicate to SFC along with payment that they wish to temporarily restrict the donation for the “Software Right to Repair”.

Recurring donations to SFC's general fund and/or Sustainer program established before 2026-05-18 will not be temporarily restricted without explicit instructions from the donor to do so. For recurring donations established during the Fundraising Period, portions of those recurring donations received by SFC during the Fundraising Period will be temporarily restricted, and those portions received after 2026-07-14 will be unrestricted donations.
